Nice to meet you, I`m Carla.
I`m Carla the designer. I make and customise clothes for a living. I love what I do and I`m good at it!
I work mainly to commisioned orders and I have regular clients whose clothes I make, as well as running my eStore. Sassy girls with attitude, DJ's, dancers and models are among a few of my clients.
I started sewing at a very young age, making clothes for my barbies. My grandma used to buy me "bags of scraps" from the local habadashery and I would handsew garments for my dolls. I progressed to machine work at 12 and was making clothes from patterns at 13. I now own a pfaff machine, my pride and joy, it can sew upto 15 layers of fabric at one time and never misses a stitch, I prefer working from ideas that come into my head than following a pattern and believe that if you can think it, you can make it!
My influences are varied and I appreciate the art of salvador dali, the designs of custo barcelona and can take inspiration from anything in life from pop art to music. I love anything "different", out of the ordinary and one of my favourite quotes by Marylin Monroe -"Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius, and its better to be absolutely ridiculous than completely boring" it describes how I look at life. Another quote which I absolutely agree with (thank you Ashley Sparklez for ontroducing me to these) is "If you see someone without a smile, give them yours" - Dolly Parton. Wise words indeed !
